Financial autonomy among vulnerable rural women is the core construct of financial inclusion. When we speak of financial inclusion, we mean something that goes beyond financial access; we mean financial agency.

I am honoured that my research and my collaboration with WE CAURI have been selected for presentation at Financial Inclusion Week 2026 (#FIW26), convened by the Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI). Together with Carole Kinha, founder of WE CAURI, we present on-demand session OD-14: From Ungoverned Proxy Access to Genuine Agency: Building Financial Systems that Work for Everyone.

What we cover

Stories from two West African countries, Ghana and Benin, bringing together both the Anglophone and the Francophone story.
How financial inclusion is perceived across the two regions, in a bilingual session.
Design-based solutions with practical implications.
How institutions such as Consolidated Bank Ghana, led by Dr Naomi Kwetey, and WE CAURI are working to empower women and the vulnerable financially.

We extend our appreciation to CFI for giving us this opportunity to raise once again the call for financial inclusion deeply rooted in trust.
