This site keeps as little as it can, keeps it here, and never sells or shares it.
When you open a page, the site records which page it was, the site that linked you here, campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), your browser’s time zone, and whether you are on a phone, tablet, or computer. It also notes clicks on things like “Book a call” or “Register”, plays of audio or video, and roughly how long a page was open.
To count unique visitors without a cookie, your IP address and browser are combined with the date and turned into a one-way code. The code changes every day and cannot be turned back into your IP address, which is never stored.
If you choose Accept, the site sets two first-party cookies: ra_vid, a random code that recognises you as a returning visitor (kept for a year), and ra_sid, which groups one visit’s pages together (30 minutes). If you choose Decline, neither is set, and any set earlier are removed. Your choice itself is stored in ra_consent.

If you send a message through the contact form, your name, email, and message are stored so I can reply. If you subscribe, your email address is stored so I can send new essays and event announcements. Every email has an unsubscribe link, which removes your address straight away.
Only me. The data lives in this site’s own database; there are no advertising or third-party tracking scripts. Email is delivered through Resend. Visit records are deleted after 13 months.
